A cross of Pinot Noir and Cinsault done in 1925 by the first professor of viticulture at the university of Stellenbosch, South Africa

Viticulture Characteristics

Hardy, moderately vigorous and productive, early to mid budding and early to mid ripening. Moderately susceptible to downy and powdery mildew as well as botrytis. Adaptable to climate; berries are small with thick skins

Wine Characteristics

Styles range from light with red fruit characteristics to bold with dark fruits and structured tannins.
